I must say, the smell of decomposing bodies really doesn’t bother me. As a deputy coroner here in NE Washington, I have been fortunate to smell both my fair share of decomposing humans as well as animals…believe me, they are distinct smells. When arriving on a death scene, it is important to pay attention to ALL of your senses, including smell; scents can sometimes be diagnostic.
