Federal government wants to lower legal alcohol limit

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The federal government says the legal alcohol limit should be lowered and wants states to change their impaired driving laws.

By lowering the legal blood alcohol limit from 0.08 to 0.05, the NTSB may be limiting your alcohol intake to 1-2 drinks. There are many factors that affect blood alcohol, including body weight, gender, medications and pre-existing health care conditions such as diabetes and reflux. Studies have shown that “buzzed drinking” with a blood alcohol from 0.05-0.07 is just as dangerous as driving over the current limit. What are your thoughts? Will lowering the legal limit on blood alcohol make a difference on the roads or in our correctional system?
